The NORTON 66254461174 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal and weld surfaces. The conical Type 29 profile presents the abrasive at a working angle, concentrating grinding pressure and improving stock removal rates compared to flat Type 27 discs. At 36 grit, this disc falls in the very coarse grade range, making it well suited for heavy grinding, weld blending, and surface conditioning. The cloth backing supports the zirconia alumina flaps through high-heat, high-pressure passes without premature flap loss. Rated to 12,000 RPM, the disc is compatible with standard 5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor. Installed by metalworkers, fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
This flap disc is used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in fabrication shops, field welding applications, and structural steel work. The 5-inch diameter and 7/8-inch arbor hole fit the most common angle grinder format found in trade and industrial settings. The very coarse 36-grit cut is appropriate for rapid weld removal, rust elimination, and surface prep before coating or inspection.
