The NORTON 66254461163 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal and weld surfaces. It features 60-grit medium-grade abrasive cloth flaps bonded to a fiberglass backing plate in a conical profile, which increases surface contact and cutting aggressiveness compared to flat Type 27 discs. Rated to 13,300 RPM, this disc is built for use on 4.5-inch right-angle grinders. The zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, extending disc life and maintaining consistent cut rates across ferrous metals, stainless steel, and weld blending applications.
This flap disc is suited for fabrication shops, welding operations, and metal finishing work where blending, grinding, and light stock removal are performed in a single pass. The Type 29 conical design is particularly effective on flat and contoured surfaces, making it a common choice for structural steel prep, weld seam blending, and surface conditioning work. The 7/8-inch arbor hole fits standard grinder spindles used across industrial and trade applications. It is typically installed and operated by fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics.
Designed for use on 4.5-inch right-angle grinders with a 7/8-inch arbor spindle. Suitable for grinding, blending, and finishing operations on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and similar materials.
Install and remove flap discs only with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Confirm the grinder free-speed RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum of 13,300 RPM before mounting. Do not use a disc that shows torn flaps, cracked backing, or visible damage. Always wear appropriate eye protection, a face shield, and gloves during operation, in accordance with ANSI B11 and applicable workplace safety standards.
