The NORTON 66254427832 is a 3-inch ceramic alumina quick-change abrasive disc from the RazorStar series, engineered for aggressive material removal on metal and weld surfaces. It mounts via a Type III (Type R) attaching system for fast disc swaps without tools. Rated at 20000 max RPM, this disc uses a coarse 36-grit ceramic alumina abrasive bonded to a Y-weight cloth backing. The ceramic alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide. The yellow coated construction is designed for use in high-production grinding and blending applications where downtime between disc changes must be minimized.
This disc is suited for metal fabrication shops, weld prep and cleanup, deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The Type R quick-change mount is widely used with right-angle die grinders and inline grinders in professional trade environments. The 36-grit coarse grade makes it appropriate for rapid stock removal rather than finishing passes. Installers and fabricators working in HVAC sheet metal, pipefitting, and structural work will find this grit level effective for weld seam grinding and edge cleanup.
Designed for use with Type III (Type R) quick-change disc holders and mandrels on right-angle and inline die grinders rated to 20000 RPM or higher.
Mounting and disc changes should be performed with the grinder fully powered off and disconnected from the air supply or electrical source. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 20000 max RPM rating marked on the disc before operation. Inspect the disc for damage or delamination before each use and discard any disc showing cracks or missing abrasive. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required per ANSI B11 and OSHA general industry standards when operating abrasive discs.
