The NORTON 66254420003 is a Type 29 conical flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and blending on metal surfaces. Built with zirconia alumina abrasive on a fiberglass backing, it delivers consistent cut rate and durability under sustained grinding loads. The disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole and runs at a maximum of 12,000 RPM. At 80 grit, it falls in the medium grade range, making it well suited for weld removal, deburring, and surface preparation where a balance of stock removal and finish quality is needed. Licensed fabricators, welders, and metalworkers are the primary installers and users.
This flap disc is used in industrial fabrication, structural steel work, and metal finishing applications. The Type 29 geometry angles the abrasive flaps to increase surface contact on flat and contoured workpieces, making it effective for both flat grinding and edge work. The fiberglass backing provides structural rigidity at operating speed without adding unnecessary weight. The blue disc color aids in quick identification on the shop floor. This disc is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flap disc for use with standard 5 inch angle grinders accepting a 7/8 inch arbor attachment.
Flap discs of this type are installed and operated by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance trades using angle grinders. Before mounting, confirm the grinder's rated RPM meets or exceeds the disc's 12,000 RPM maximum and that the arbor size matches. Always inspect the disc for damage before use and ensure the guard is properly installed on the grinder. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable OSHA standards for abrasive wheel mounting and safe operation.
