The NORTON 66254419994 is a Powerflex Type 29 flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface blending on metal workpieces. At 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor, it mounts directly to standard angle grinders used in fabrication, welding prep, and structural metalwork. The 40-grit abrasive delivers fast stock removal on mild steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals. The conical Type 29 geometry angles the abrasive surface toward the workpiece, increasing contact area and cutting efficiency compared to flat Type 27 discs. Metal fabricators, welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers are the primary installers and users of this disc.
This flap disc is suited for flat surface grinding, weld blending, edge work, and deburring operations in industrial, commercial, and heavy fabrication environments. The 40-grit designation makes it appropriate for initial material removal passes where aggressive cutting action is needed before moving to finer finishing grits. It is sold in a minimum quantity of 10 units per order, making it well suited for shop stocking and job-site supply.
Designed for use with standard angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle and capable of accepting a 4.5-inch diameter flap disc. Verify that the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum RPM marked on the disc before mounting.
Flap discs are installed and operated by metal fabricators, welders, and ironworkers following applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate above the rated maximum RPM. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation.
