The NORTON 66254409084 is a 5-inch ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface conditioning on metal, welds, and castings. Running at up to 10,000 RPM on a standard angle grinder or disc grinder, this coated abrasive uses a resinoid bond over a fiber backing to deliver consistent cut rates through the life of the disc. The 120-grit fine grade makes it well suited for finishing passes, blending, and light deburring where controlled stock removal is required. The 7/8-inch arbor hole fits common grinder spindles without adapters.
This disc is used in fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and field metalworking applications. It is appropriate for use on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and similar hard substrates where a fine grit leaves a clean surface before coating or inspection. Licensed tradespeople including welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers typically reach for this disc during post-weld cleanup and before surface treatment processes. The orange disc color corresponds to the ceramic alumina Series F980 product line.
Designed for use on angle grinders and disc grinders fitted with a 5-inch backup pad and a 7/8-inch spindle arbor. Verify that the grinder RPM rating does not exceed the 10,000 RPM maximum disc speed before installation.
Installation and operation of abrasive fiber discs should follow ANSI B7.1 and the grinder manufacturer guidelines. Always power down and disconnect or de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Inspect the disc for cracks, nicks, or delamination before each use and discard any damaged disc immediately. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, hearing protection, and gloves during grinding operations.
