The NORTON 66254400698 is a coated abrasive fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and fabricated surfaces. Part of the F220 series, this disc runs on a resinoid bond with an aluminum oxide abrasive on a fiber backing. At 60 grit, it falls in the medium grade range, making it well-suited for blending, deburring, and surface prep work. It is rated to a maximum of 11,000 RPM and mounts via a standard arbor hole. Metalworkers, fabricators, and trade professionals in welding and grinding applications are the primary users.
This fiber disc fits 4-1/2 inch angle grinders and right-angle grinders equipped with a backup pad and 7/8 inch arbor. It is commonly used in industrial and commercial fabrication shops, as well as field metalwork where portable grinding tools are standard. Applications include weld blending, rust removal, scale removal, and general stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The brown disc color is characteristic of the F220 series aluminum oxide construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit coated abrasive disc for 4-1/2 inch angle grinders and right-angle grinders using a 7/8 inch arbor hole backup pad attachment.
Licensed fabricators and metalworking trades install fiber discs on angle grinders using a matching backup pad rated for the disc diameter. Always confirm the grinder's maximum RPM meets or exceeds the disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate a damaged disc. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during grinding operations.
