The NORTON 66254400256 is a Type 27 ceramic flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface finishing on metal, stainless steel, and hard alloys. Built around an R920-series ceramic abrasive grain, this disc delivers consistent cut rates and extended life compared to standard aluminum oxide flaps. The fiberglass backing plate provides rigid support for flat grinding applications. At 120 grit, it falls in the fine grade range, making it suited for blending welds, light stock removal, and surface prep ahead of coating or inspection. The 7/8 inch arbor hole fits standard angle grinder spindles directly.
This flap disc is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and field welding operations where a flat grinding profile is required. The Type 27 depressed-center design keeps the disc face parallel to the work surface, which is preferred for flat-surface blending rather than edge work. It is appropriate for use on ferrous metals, hard stainless, and high-strength alloys where ceramic grain performance justifies the application. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-style coated abrasive disc for use with 4.5 inch angle grinders fitted with a standard 7/8 inch arbor spindle.
Installation is performed by qualified grinding operators or tradespeople following standard abrasive wheel mounting procedures. Always disconnect or de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum speed rating. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable shop safety requirements for abrasive wheel use.
