The NORTON 66253364336 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for heavy-stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 1-1/2 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole. The wheel is constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, producing a porous, free-cutting structure rated at coarse grade with a 46 grit designation and I hardness code. Rated to a maximum of 1800 RPM, it is suited for production surface grinding where consistent material removal and wheel integrity under sustained load are required. The specification code 32A46-IVBE identifies the exact wheel formula for procurement and replacement reference.
This wheel is used in surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine applications. It is appropriate for both job shop and production environments where medium-hardness wheels are specified for coarse stock removal. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety requirements and the machine manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use using the ring test — do not mount a damaged wheel. Never exceed the 1800 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel.
