The NORTON 66253364102 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for demanding material removal on ferrous metals and exotic alloys. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and thermal resistance across extended grinding cycles. At 14 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard surface and cylindrical grinders. The 46 grit, coarse grade removes stock aggressively, while the I hardness (medium) rating and semi-friable grain structure allow the wheel to self-dress under load, maintaining sharp cutting edges. This wheel is suited for precision surface grinding and cylindrical grinding applications in production and toolroom environments. Installation should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or maintenance technician familiar with abrasive wheel safety. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or damage using the ring test per ANSI B7.1 standards, and ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out. Never exceed the marked maximum RPM of 1800. Use proper flanges and a blotter on each side of the wheel, and allow the wheel to run at operating speed in a guarded area for at least one minute before presenting work.
