The NORTON 66253364098 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for demanding material removal on ferrous and exotic metals. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 1.5 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole. The wheel uses a ceramic abrasive grain bonded with a vitrified bond in a porous structure, producing a coarse 46-grit cut rated at J hardness. The semi-friable grain and medium hardness rating combine to deliver consistent stock removal while resisting heat buildup in tough grinding applications. It is rated for a maximum of 1800 RPM and weighs 15 pounds.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding and cylindrical grinding operations on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is compatible with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders. Installation should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or maintenance technician following the machine manufacturer's guarding and speed requirements. Always verify the machine's maximum operating RPM does not exceed the wheel's 1800 RPM rating before mounting. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test before installation, and ensure the arbor hole fits the spindle with proper flanges and blotters in place. Never exceed the rated speed, and allow the wheel to run idle at operating speed for at least one minute before engaging the workpiece.
