The NORTON 66253363871 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous and exotic materials. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole. The wheel is constructed from ceramic abrasive grain bonded with a vitrified bond, producing a semi-friable, porous structure that resists loading and maintains a sharp cutting face longer than conventional aluminum oxide wheels. Rated at a maximum of 1800 RPM, it carries an I hardness code and medium grade classification. Licensed HVAC, machine, and tool-room technicians rely on this wheel for precision surface and cylindrical grinding applications.
This wheel is suited for production and maintenance grinding on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Compatible machine types include surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Its porous, semi-friable ceramic grain structure makes it especially effective on heat-sensitive materials where minimizing workpiece burn is critical. The blue wheel color identifies the 5SG ceramic series, specification 5SG60-IVSP.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for material applications including 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Titanium, Super Alloys, Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Gray Iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed only by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using a ring test and confirm the spindle speed does not exceed the 1800 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Power down and lock out the machine before changing wheels, and always use the correct flanges and blotters for the arbor size. A fresh wheel should be dressed before first use to true the face and expose fresh abrasive grain.
