The NORTON 66253363814 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous and exotic materials. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, with a 5 inch center hole. The wheel is built on a ceramic abrasive grain with a vitrified bond structure, rated at medium hardness (Hardness Code K) and a semi-friable grain designation. This construction promotes consistent cut rates and self-sharpening action under load. Rated to a maximum of 1800 RPM, it is sized for large-capacity surface and cylindrical grinders operated by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This wheel is suited for precision surface grinding applications in production and toolroom environments. Its ceramic grain and vitrified bond make it effective on demanding workpiece materials including 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Compatible machine types include surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The porous, open structure supports coolant flow and chip clearance, making it well-suited for both wet and dry grinding setups where heat management is critical.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for material applications including 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting and verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 1800 RPM maximum rated speed of this wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and use the correct flanges and blotters for the 5 inch bore. Dress the wheel before first use to true the face and expose fresh grain.
