The NORTON 66253344355 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for aggressive stock removal on hard and exotic metals. Manufactured under the BlueFire 4NV series, it uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain with a resinoid bond and a semi-friable structure that continuously exposes fresh cutting edges during use. At 14 grit with an R hardness code (Very Coarse, Soft-rated), this wheel is designed for rapid material removal rather than finish grinding. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 5/8-inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 6000 RPM. It weighs 5.3 pounds and carries the BLUEFIRE 14-S specification designation.
This wheel is suited for use on ID grinders in industrial and heavy trade applications. Its zirconia alumina grain performs well on 300 and 400 series stainless steels, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, and super alloys. The Very Coarse grit makes it the right choice for weld blending, heavy surface conditioning, and initial stock removal passes where surface finish is secondary to cut rate. Typical users include tool room machinists, maintenance welders, and industrial grinding technicians working with ferrous and high-alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with ID grinders. Compatible material applications include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Titanium, and Super Alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or maintenance technician with the machine fully de-energized and locked out before mounting the wheel. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installing and perform a ring test per ANSI B11.9 guidelines. Confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 6000 RPM maximum rated speed of the wheel before operation. Flanges, blotters, and mounting hardware must be appropriate for a Type 1 straight wheel with a 5/8-inch arbor hole.
