The NORTON 66253344098 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel built for aggressive stock removal on ferrous metals and high-strength alloys. It measures 4 inches in diameter by 1/4 inches thick with a 3/8 inch arbor hole. The abrasive grain is Zirconia Alumina bonded in a resinoid matrix, rated at a very coarse 20 grit with a T hardness code. This combination produces fast, cool cutting action suited to heavy grinding passes. The BlueFire 4NV series wheel is designed for use on ID grinders and is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and metalworking professionals who need consistent, repeatable stock removal on hard or tough materials.
This wheel is rated for material applications including 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Titanium, and Super Alloys. It is intended for ID grinder setups in industrial and production shop environments where aggressive cutting on difficult materials is required. The non-porous, non-tapered, no-recess design simplifies mounting and dressing on standard spindle configurations. The wheel color is black, which is consistent with the BlueFire Zirconia Alumina product family.
Designed for use with ID grinders as stated by the manufacturer. Compatible material applications include 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Titanium, and Super Alloys. Part of the NORTON BlueFire 4NV series.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per manufacturer guidelines. Power down the grinder and lock out the spindle before changing wheels. Never exceed the 15,280 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel.
