The NORTON 66253319937 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on ferrous and high-alloy workpieces. Built on a vitrified bond with a ceramic abrasive grain, this wheel delivers consistent cut rate and free-cutting action across a wide range of hard materials. At 14 inches in diameter and 2 inches thick, it is sized for heavy-duty surface and cylindrical grinder applications. The 46-grit, H-hardness (coarse grade, soft hardness rating) construction keeps the wheel open and friable during cut, reducing heat buildup on heat-sensitive alloys. Rated to 2,320 RPM maximum, it supports both wet and dry operation.
This wheel is suited for production and toolroom grinding of 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in industrial, maintenance, and job shop environments. The 5-inch arbor hole accommodates standard spindle configurations on full-size production grinders, and the one-side recess (8-inch recess diameter, 0.5-inch recess depth) provides clearance for flange mounting.

Grinding wheel installation and dressing must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Confirm that the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 2,320 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel, and use proper flanges and blotters as required by the wheel manufacturer and machine specifications.
