The NORTON 66253263591 is a Type 7 recessed surface grinding wheel engineered for demanding material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal and good form retention under wet grinding conditions. At 12 inches in diameter, 2 inches thick, and rated to 2070 RPM maximum, it is sized for industrial surface grinders and cylindrical grinders used in production shops and maintenance environments. The 46 grit, H hardness (coarse grade, semi-friable structure) makes it well suited for aggressive material removal passes where surface finish is a secondary concern.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders handling a wide range of metalworking applications. It is rated for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The two-sided recess geometry (1/2 inch recess depth, 7.5 inch recess diameter) and 5 inch mounting hole accommodate standard grinder spindle arbors found in job shops, tool rooms, and industrial maintenance facilities. Wet operation is required for this wheel.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Rated material applications include 400 Series Stainless, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Tool Steels, Aluminum, Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Gray Iron. Mounting requires a 5 inch arbor hole.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always de-energize and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before installation, and never exceed the 2070 RPM maximum speed rating. This wheel requires wet operation — do not run dry.
