The NORTON 66253263170 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for demanding material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Constructed with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 12 inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches thick with a 5-inch arbor hole. It carries a 46 grit coarse grade with K hardness rating, rated to a maximum of 2070 RPM. A one-side recess with a 7-1/2-inch recess diameter and 1/2-inch depth makes it compatible with recessed hub surface grinder setups. The porous, vitrified structure promotes cool cutting and efficient swarf evacuation during heavy stock removal cycles.
This wheel is suited for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in industrial and job shop environments. Typical applications include rough and semi-finish grinding of 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The coarse 46 grit formulation is best matched to aggressive stock removal passes rather than finish work, making it a go-to choice when material needs to come off fast before a finishing wheel takes over.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Rated for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator or toolroom technician following applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and locked out before changing wheels. Never exceed the marked maximum operating speed of 2070 RPM.
