The NORTON 66253263052 is a Type 1 bench and pedestal grinding wheel built for heavy stock removal on ferrous metals. It measures 12 inches in diameter, 1-1/2 inches thick, with a 1-1/2 inch arbor hole, and weighs 15.78 pounds. The wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive in a vitrified bond, delivering consistent cut rate and self-dressing action under load. Rated at a maximum of 2070 RPM, it carries a coarse 36/46 dual-grit specification suited for aggressive material removal. A bushing set is included to fit a range of arbor sizes without additional hardware.
This wheel is used on stationary bench grinders and pedestal grinders in maintenance shops, fabrication facilities, and tool rooms. The coarse 36/46 grit combination makes it well suited for reshaping cutting tools, removing weld spatter, deburring castings, and rough shaping of steel stock. Licensed tradespeople including machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users. Its large 12-inch diameter extends surface life between dressings, reducing downtime in high-volume grinding operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit wheel for stationary bench grinders and pedestal grinders accepting a 12 inch diameter, 1-1/2 inch thick, 1-1/2 inch arbor hole Type 1 wheel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the grinder fully de-energized and unplugged before mounting. Always conduct a ring test by tapping the wheel lightly before mounting to check for cracks. Confirm the machine speed rating meets or exceeds the 2070 RPM maximum marked on the wheel, and never exceed that rated speed in operation. Wheel guards must remain in place during use in accordance with OSHA 1910.215 and ANSI B11.9 standards.
