The NORTON 66253263050 is a Type 5 ceramic surface grinding wheel built for heavy-stock removal on hard ferrous metals and exotic alloys. It measures 12 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole and a one-side recess of 0.5 inches at a 7.5-inch recess diameter. The wheel uses a vitrified bond with 60 grit and an I hardness code, placing it in the medium grade range. At a maximum operating speed of 2070 RPM, it delivers controlled, consistent cut rates on demanding materials. Weighing 10.92 pounds, it is sized for production-grade surface and cylindrical grinding operations.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in industrial and toolroom environments. Its ceramic abrasive and semi-friable grain structure make it well suited for hard carbon steels, tool steels, 400 series stainless steel, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The blue vitrified wheel is a common choice for precision grinding applications where heat generation and wheel breakdown must be carefully controlled.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Suitable for machining 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron per manufacturer specifications.
Grinding wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool and die technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lockout the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the 2070 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel.
