The NORTON 66253263034 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel built for high-stock-removal work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 12 inches in diameter, 1-1/2 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole, this wheel carries a 60-grit medium-grade abrasive structure rated to 2070 RPM maximum. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and free-cutting action, making it well suited for precision surface grinding applications where consistent material removal and flatness are priorities. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and grinding machine operators typically install and dress this wheel.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Its aluminum oxide abrasive and medium hardness rating (Hardness Code K) make it appropriate for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, non-tapered, no-recess Type 1 configuration fits standard surface grinder spindle setups commonly found in job shops and production grinding environments.

Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting; inspect the wheel for cracks or chips prior to installation and perform a ring test. Never exceed the 2070 RPM maximum operating speed stamped or labeled on the wheel. After mounting, allow the wheel to run at operating speed for at least one minute from behind a guard before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
