The NORTON 66253262593 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on hard ferrous metals and specialty alloys. Built with ceramic abrasive grain in a vitrified bond, this wheel carries a 60 grit, medium grade designation with a G hardness code, placing it in the softer range of vitrified wheels for efficient, cool cutting. At 12 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and with a 3-inch arbor hole, it is sized for production surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Rated at a maximum of 2070 RPM, it is installed by machinists and tool room technicians as part of precision grinding operations.
This wheel is formulated for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Its semi-friable ceramic grain continuously self-sharpens under load, making it well suited for CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders in both job shop and production environments. The porous, blue-colored wheel structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance during aggressive passes.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for machining applications involving 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Series designation is 5SG Type 1, specification code 5SG60-GVSP.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool room technician following ANSI B11 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 2070 under any operating condition.
