Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test — do not use a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2070 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Always use the correct flanges and blotters for the arbor size, and run the wheel at operating speed with guards in place for at least one minute before presenting work.
