The NORTON 66253262505 is a Type 1 ceramic surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive material removal on hard ferrous metals and exotic alloys. Built to the 5SG specification with a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 12 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole. The 60-grit, K-hardness (medium) structure delivers a balance of cut rate and wheel life suited to production surface and cylindrical grinding. The semi-friable ceramic abrasive continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, reducing heat buildup and extending dress intervals. Licensed trade professionals and industrial grinding specialists are the primary installers and operators of this wheel.
This wheel is designed for demanding applications involving 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is rated for use on CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders. The porous, vitrified-bond construction supports coolant penetration, making it well suited to wet-grinding setups where thermal management is critical. The non-tapered, no-recess Type 1 flat profile fits standard 3-inch arbor spindles common on industrial surface grinders.
Designed for use with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders requiring a Type 1 flat wheel with a 3-inch arbor hole and a maximum speed rating of 2,070 RPM.
Grinding wheel mounting must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and inspect for cracks or chips. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 2,070 RPM marked on the wheel or its blotter.
