The NORTON 66253262502 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for high-performance stock removal on hard and difficult-to-grind materials. Built on a ceramic abrasive grain with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and long wheel life across demanding production applications. The 5SG series ceramic grain is semi-friable, meaning it self-sharpens during use rather than glazing over. At 12 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard surface and cylindrical grinder spindles. Maximum operating speed is 2070 RPM. Hardness is rated K, placing it in the medium range, which balances wheel life against free cutting action on hard workpiece materials.
This wheel is suited for precision surface grinding and cylindrical grinding in job shop, tool room, and production environments. Material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Compatible machines include CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders. The coarse 46-grit designation makes it appropriate for aggressive material removal rather than finish grinding passes.

Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or damage using the ring test. Never exceed the maximum rated speed of 2070 RPM, and always verify the machine spindle speed before operation. Use appropriate flanges and blotters; do not force the wheel onto the spindle arbor.
