The NORTON 66253262260 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for high-stock-removal operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 12 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole, this wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix. The 46-grit, H-hardness (coarse grade) construction delivers aggressive cutting action while the porous structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance. Rated to a maximum of 2,070 RPM, it carries the specification designation 32A46-HVBE. It is sized and rated for use by machinists and tool-room technicians on production surface grinders and cylindrical grinders.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding applications on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Typical installations include surface grinder setups in production machine shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance grinding cells. The coarse grit makes it a strong choice for rapid material removal passes where surface finish requirements are secondary to stock removal rate. Compatible equipment includes surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for material applications including 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified machine operators or toolroom technicians following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test; never mount a wheel that produces a dull thud. Power down and lockout/tagout the grinder before changing wheels, confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2,070 RPM maximum rating marked on this wheel, and use proper flanges and blotters as specified by the grinder manufacturer. Always dress the wheel before the first grind pass on a new mount.
