The NORTON 66253246916 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel engineered for heavy stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and carries a 5-inch arbor hole. The 46-grit coarse grade paired with a K hardness rating and vitrified bond makes this wheel well suited for aggressive grinding passes where material removal rate is the priority. It carries a maximum operating speed of 2320 RPM. Rated at 11.43 pounds, this is a full-size wheel intended for professional shop and production-floor use by machinists and tool-and-die technicians.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The coarse grit makes it particularly effective for roughing operations and rapid material removal rather than finish grinding. It is a non-porous, non-tapered, no-recess Type 1 straight wheel from the Norton 32A series.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Confirmed material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding specialist following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2320 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and dress the wheel face before the first cut after mounting.
