The NORTON 66253246906 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for heavy-stock removal on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled cutting action across the full face of the wheel. It measures 12 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and carries a 5-inch arbor hole. The 46-grit, J-hardness (coarse grade) specification makes it well suited for aggressive material removal where surface finish is a secondary concern. Maximum operating speed is 2,705 RPM. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and industrial trades installers and machinists working with production grinding operations will find this wheel fits standard surface grinder setups.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both shop and production environments. It performs across a broad material range including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The non-porous, non-tapered, non-recessed Type 1 flat wheel profile is standard for straight surface grinding applications in maintenance, tool room, and manufacturing settings.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test; never use a damaged wheel. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed of 2,705 RPM marked on the wheel.
