The NORTON 66253246871 is a Type 5 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel engineered for heavy-duty material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. At 14 inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches thick with a 5-inch arbor hole, this wheel mounts to surface grinders and cylindrical grinders and handles demanding production grinding applications. The 46-grit coarse grade and J hardness rating make it well suited for aggressive stock removal where surface finish is secondary to material throughput. Maximum operating speed is 2320 RPM. Weighing 11.43 pounds, this is a substantial wheel intended for stationary grinder setups, not handheld tools.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in professional machine shop, fabrication, and tool-and-die environments. It performs across a wide range of material applications including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The 32A Type 5 series designation indicates a recessed one-side profile with an 8-inch recess diameter and 1/2-inch recess depth, which provides clearance at the mounting flange and aids wheel balance on the spindle.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron workpieces.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 and wheel manufacturer safety guidelines. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lockout the grinder before changing wheels, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 2320. Dress the wheel after mounting to true the running face before beginning any grinding operation.
