The NORTON 66253246870 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, with a 1.25-inch arbor hole. It carries an 80-grit, medium-grade specification and is rated for a maximum of 3600 RPM. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and consistent cut, making it a standard choice for surface and cylindrical grinding operations in professional machine shops and tool rooms.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding applications on a wide range of materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The non-porous, non-tapered, non-recessed Type 1 flat wheel profile is the most common configuration for reciprocating surface grinder spindles in both production and maintenance grinding environments.
Compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Fits arbors with a 1.25-inch bore.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following the wheel manufacturer guidelines and ANSI B7.1 safety requirements. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel maximum RPM rating. Use proper blotters and flanges when mounting, and run the wheel under guard at operating speed for at least one minute before grinding.
