Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The J hardness rating and 60 grit designation place it in the medium grade range, making it well suited for roughing passes where material removal rate matters more than surface finish refinement. It carries a maximum operating speed of 3,600 RPM. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and precision grinding shops are the primary installers and operators of this wheel.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in production and job-shop environments. It performs across a broad range of materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The Type 5 recessed profile features a one-side recess measuring 1/2 inch deep and 3 inches in diameter, which reduces wheel weight and improves clearance in certain chuck and fixture configurations common to surface grinding setups.
