The NORTON 66253246834 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from aluminum oxide abrasive and bonded with a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 46-grit, I-hardness (Coarse grade) specification makes it well suited for rapid material removal where surface finish is secondary to cut rate. Rated at a maximum of 3600 RPM, it is designed for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in production and maintenance grinding environments.
This wheel is appropriate for use on a wide range of metals including 400 Series stainless, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The one-side recessed profile (Type 5) with a 3-inch recess diameter and 1/2-inch recess depth allows clearance for flanges and wheel mounts on compatible surface grinder and cylindrical grinder spindles. It is a standard choice for tool rooms, fabrication shops, and maintenance grinding operations where coarse-grit material removal is required.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders accepting a 7-inch diameter, 1-1/4 inch arbor hole Type 5 recessed wheel. Suitable for grinding 400 Series stainless, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always power down the grinder and confirm the spindle is at a complete stop before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before every use using the ring test; never mount a damaged wheel. Do not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum operating speed marked on the wheel.
