The NORTON 66253246829 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel built for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. At 7 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. The 80-grit, medium-grade abrasive delivers a balance of cut rate and finish quality, and the H hardness code indicates a soft-to-medium bond that releases dull grains readily to expose fresh cutting edges. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. The Series 32A designation identifies the bond system and grain structure used in this wheel.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is suited to surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in tool rooms, machine shops, and maintenance environments. CNC cutting tool machines are also listed as compatible equipment. Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guarding requirements. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Always use the correct flanges and blotters for the arbor bore size and never force the wheel onto the spindle.
