The NORTON 66253246823 is a Type 5 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 7 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, this wheel carries a 46-grit coarse grade and an I hardness rating, making it well suited for aggressive material removal while maintaining wheel integrity under load. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity control, and the wheel is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production grinding environments.
This wheel is intended for use on cylindrical grinders and surface grinders in both job-shop and production settings. Its aluminum oxide abrasive composition makes it effective across a wide range of materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The one-side recessed Type 5 profile with a 3-inch recess diameter and 1/4 inch recess depth allows clearance for flanges and spindle hardware in standard surface grinder setups.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test; do not mount a wheel that fails inspection. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rated speed marked on the wheel.
