The NORTON 66253246812 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. At 7 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, this wheel mounts directly to standard surface grinder spindles. The 46-grit coarse grade and K-hardness rating suit aggressive material removal passes while the vitrified bond maintains grain exposure throughout the wheel's service life. Rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM, it is installed by machinists and grinding machine operators in job shop, tool room, and industrial production environments.
This wheel performs across a broad range of material applications including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is intended for use on CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders. The coarse 46-grit specification makes it best suited for roughing operations and rapid material removal rather than finishing passes. The non-porous, non-recessed, non-tapered Type 1 flat wheel profile is the most common configuration for reciprocating and rotary surface grinders found in production and maintenance shops.

Grinding wheel installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting to check for cracks, and inspect the flanges and blotters for damage or contamination before clamping. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed marked on the wheel. Run the wheel under the machine guard for a full minute after mounting before introducing workpiece contact.
