Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before installing or removing the wheel, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2,710 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Perform a ring test and allow the wheel to run at operating speed under guard for at least one minute before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
