The NORTON 66253161251 is a Type 1 bench and pedestal grinding wheel built for stock removal, tool sharpening, and general-purpose metal grinding. It measures 10 inches in diameter, 1-1/4 inches thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The abrasive material is aluminum oxide with a vitrified bond, which provides a firm, consistent cut and holds its shape well under moderate to heavy use. Grit options span 60 and 80 (medium grade), making this wheel suitable for both initial shaping and refined edge work. Maximum rated speed is 2,485 RPM. At 8.24 pounds, it is a substantial wheel suited for stationary grinder setups.
This wheel is intended for use on bench grinders and pedestal grinders in shop environments. Typical applications include sharpening lathe tools, chisels, drill bits, and other cutting tools, as well as deburring and light shaping of ferrous metals. It is commonly found in maintenance shops, fabrication facilities, and tool rooms where a stationary grinder is a standard piece of equipment. Electricians, pipefitters, machinists, and general maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this type of grinding wheel.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement or upgrade wheel for standard bench and pedestal grinders accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a 10 inch diameter Type 1 wheel.
Grinding wheels must be installed by a qualified technician following OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 and ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always power down and lock out the grinder before removing or mounting a wheel. Perform a ring test by tapping the wheel with a non-metallic object before mounting to check for cracks — do not mount a wheel that does not ring clearly. Never exceed the wheel's maximum rated RPM as marked.
