The NORTON 66253160892 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. Built to the 38A46-JVBE specification, it carries a 46-grit coarse cut with a J hardness code and semi-friable grain structure that self-sharpens under load. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity for efficient chip clearance and coolant flow. At 10 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and with a 3-inch arbor hole, this wheel mounts to standard surface and cylindrical grinders. It is installed and operated by qualified grinding machine operators and tool room machinists.
This wheel is rated for use on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. It is compatible with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders. The white aluminum oxide abrasive is well suited for applications where heat-sensitive workpieces require a cooler-cutting, friable grain. Typical scenarios include tool room surface grinding, reconditioning of flat stock, and precision finishing of hardened tool steel components where geometry tolerance is critical.
