The NORTON 66253160754 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 10 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole. The wheel uses an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, producing the 32A46-JVBE specification. At 46 grit with a J hardness (coarse grade, medium hardness rating), it cuts aggressively while maintaining a controlled, consistent surface. Rated to a maximum of 2,485 RPM. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and grinding professionals rely on this wheel for high-volume material removal in production and tool room environments.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine applications. It performs across a wide range of materials including 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous structure and vitrified bond allow coolant penetration and chip clearance, making it effective in both wet and dry grinding setups on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test before mounting, and verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2,485 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Follow ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines for abrasive wheel guarding and flange requirements.
