The NORTON 66253160031 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel built for high-stock-removal applications on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 10 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole. The abrasive is aluminum oxide bonded in a vitrified matrix, rated at 46 grit coarse grade with K hardness and a maximum operating speed of 2,485 RPM. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and consistent cutting action across the wheel face, making it well suited to precision surface grinding where flatness and finish uniformity matter. The series specification is 32A46-KVBE.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in production and tool-room environments. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is appropriate for both light finishing passes and heavier stock removal depending on feed rate and wheel speed settings. Machinists and grinding technicians working in job shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance facilities are the primary installers and users of this wheel.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified machinists or grinding technicians following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 2,485 RPM marked on the wheel.
