The NORTON 66253149729 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and open-pore structure suited for wet or dry surface grinding operations. It measures 10 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole. Hardness is rated J (medium) with a 60-grit designation, making it appropriate for moderate material removal where surface finish and wheel life are balanced. Maximum operating speed is 2,485 RPM. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and grinding specialists are the primary installers and users.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The porous, vitrified structure allows coolant penetration and chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during aggressive passes on harder alloys. The gray, non-tapered, non-recessed Type 1 profile fits standard surface grinder spindle setups with a 3-inch bore.
