The NORTON 66253044622 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel engineered for stock removal and precision surface finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and runs a 46-grit aluminum oxide abrasive bond in a vitrified matrix. At a coarse grade with a K hardness code and medium hardness rating, the wheel cuts aggressively while maintaining controlled breakdown on harder workpiece materials. Rated to 3,600 RPM, it is sized for surface grinders and cylindrical grinders commonly found in machine shops and tool rooms. Total wheel weight is 4.18 pounds.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test — do not mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM rating stamped on the wheel. After mounting, run the wheel at operating speed in a guarded position for at least one minute before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
