The NORTON 66253044617 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel is constructed with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, rated to a maximum of 3,105 RPM. At 46 grit with an I hardness code (medium grade), it delivers aggressive, coarse cutting action suited for general-purpose surface grinding work. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users of this wheel.
This wheel is built for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. It is well suited for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The coarse 46 grit rating makes it appropriate for high-stock-removal passes on flat surfaces and external cylindrical profiles in both production and maintenance grinding environments.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for material applications including 400 Series Stainless, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.215 grinding safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum RPM stamped on the wheel or listed on the blotter.
