The NORTON 66253044616 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and machine shop environments. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent, controlled cutting action across a wide range of materials. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and carries a coarse 46 grit rating with an H hardness code. It is rated for a maximum of 3,105 RPM. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and grinding specialists are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and use on CNC cutting tool machines. It performs on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, vitrified structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, making it a practical choice for high-material-removal passes where surface finish consistency is required. It is sold individually with no minimum order beyond a single unit.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines accepting an 8 inch diameter Type 1 wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Norton series designation is 32A Type 1, specification 32A46-HVBE.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,105 RPM rating marked on the wheel. Use proper flanges and a compressible blotter on each side of the wheel when mounting. Never alter the arbor hole or use the wheel on a machine for which it is not rated.
