The NORTON 66253044171 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rate and shape retention across extended use. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and carries a 60 grit, J hardness (medium grade) rating. Maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM. The vitrified bond structure is porous, which promotes coolant flow and reduces heat buildup at the workpiece surface. This wheel is installed and dressed by machinists and grinding technicians in production and tool-room environments.
This grinding wheel is suited for surface grinding applications on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The 60 grit and medium grade combination makes it appropriate for moderate material removal where surface finish is still a consideration. It fits standard 1-1/4 inch arbor spindles common to bench-style and reciprocating surface grinders found in job shops and maintenance facilities.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Fits 1-1/4 inch arbor spindles.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — perform a ring test by tapping the wheel gently and listening for a clear tone. Power down and lock out the grinder before installing or removing the wheel. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel or its blotter.
