The NORTON 66253044099 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for aggressive stock removal on hard and exotic metals. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inches arbor hole. The abrasive is a ceramic grain bonded in a vitrified matrix, rated at J hardness and 46 grit for coarse-grade cutting. Semi-friable ceramic grain continually fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, reducing heat buildup and maintaining cut rate on difficult materials. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum. This wheel suits machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians who need consistent performance on demanding alloys.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Its material application list covers 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, vitrified structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, making it a practical choice for production grinding environments where thermal damage to workpiece surfaces is a concern.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 machine guarding standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation using a ring test, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 3600. Use properly sized flanges and a blotter on each side of the wheel as required by the grinder manufacturer.
