The NORTON 66253044091 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous and exotic metals. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain in a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and long wheel life on demanding materials. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. Rated at a maximum of 3600 RPM, it carries a K hardness code and a coarse 46 grit designation. The semi-friable grain structure continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, reducing heat buildup during extended grinding passes.
This wheel is suited for professional grinding applications in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The ceramic grain and vitrified bond make it well-matched for precision surface grinding operations where tight tolerances and surface finish consistency are required. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Intended for use on CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test. Ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Always install proper flange guards and allow the wheel to run at operating speed for one minute before engaging the workpiece.
