The NORTON 66253044013 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built around a silicon carbide abrasive grain bonded in a vitrified matrix, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and controlled surface finishes. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, and is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. The medium grade and I hardness code make it well suited for general-purpose surface grinding where moderate material removal and reasonable wheel life are both priorities. Licensed grinding machine operators and tool-room machinists are the typical installers.
This wheel is used on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both shop and production environments. It is appropriate for residential machine shops as well as light industrial and trade settings. Confirmed compatible material applications include 300 Series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. The green wheel color is characteristic of silicon carbide abrasives and aids in quick identification at the machine.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator familiar with ANSI B7.1 safety requirements for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test; never mount a damaged wheel. Do not exceed the maximum RPM stamped or labeled on the wheel or machine, whichever is lower.
