The NORTON 66253043888 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and long wheel life under continuous grinding loads. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. At 60 grit and H hardness (medium grade), it strikes a balance between aggressive material removal and surface finish quality, making it a reliable choice for production and maintenance grinding applications. Rated to 3,600 RPM, it fits standard surface grinder spindles without modification.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding operations on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both job shop and production environments. The porous, vitrified structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during extended runs. The 32A60-HVBEP specification designates this wheel within NORTON's 32A series.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or maintenance technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines. Always perform a ring test before mounting and inspect the wheel for cracks or chips. Power down and lockout the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM rating marked on the wheel. Use properly matched flanges and a blotter on each side of the wheel when mounting.
