The NORTON 66253043882 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and good form-holding under load. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 46-grit, coarse-grade construction removes material aggressively, making it well suited for rough grinding passes where surface finish is secondary to stock removal rate. Rated to a maximum of 3,105 RPM, it is installed and operated by machinists and grinding technicians on surface and cylindrical grinding equipment.
This wheel is used in both production and toolroom environments where consistent abrasive performance is required across a range of materials. Typical applications include surface grinding on hard and soft carbon steels, 400-series stainless steel, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is used with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The coarse grit makes it a go-to choice for initial material removal before finishing operations.
Compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for use on 400-series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Series designation is 32A Type 1.
Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guarding requirements. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test on vitrified wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 3,105 RPM; verify the spindle speed of your machine before mounting.
